This Backstep Forward is a follow up to this week’s Dad’s Letter, Flexibility is Priceless.”

Backstep

How flexible is your current situation? Can you take extended time off from work easily if something important comes up? Do you have enough margin in your finances to be able to switch employment or launch a business if it is best for you and your family? Or, are you golden-handcuffed to the income from your current employment to maintain your current life situation?

Take a very honest look at your current financial and life situation and how flexible it is.

Forward

What is the one, most impactful thing you can do to increase the flexibility of your current situation?

Could you live simply for 3-6 months to eliminate one or two large monthly debt payments, increasing the extra cash flow you have in your monthly budget in case you need to switch to better employment that pays less?

Are you able to launch a business where you are able to completely control your schedule?

There are countless ways to start building flexibility into your life. The key is to just get started no matter how small the action.
